Recyclate manufacturer expands production in Hamburg and Garstedt / Investment despite difficult market situation

After two years of planning, the plastics recycler RSH Polymere (21079-Hamburg, www.rshpolymere.de) begins to expand production despite the current difficult situation with secondary material. The total capacity for recyclates (PE-LD, PE-HD and Polypropylene) as well as PP, ABS polycarbonat / ABS compounds and recompounds is to increase by 15.000 to 50.000 tons per year. According to managing director Swen Draak, the company is investing a double-digit million amount and creating 15 new jobs. According to Draak, the start of implementation ,,is not an easy market phase", which is characterized by weak demand caused by the pandemic and very low pices for resin materials for a long time. ,,For the overall situation, however, we believe in a good future for plastics recycling, which is why we are not postponing investments."
Specifically, RSH is planning hall conversions of 4.500 m² at both Garstedt and Hamburg locations, the expansion of the outdoor storage area and the expansion of the laboratory and technical center. The machine park will be expanded by two regranulating lines and a compounding line as well as the corresponding mixing technology, some of which will replace existing systems. The head office in the main Hamburg plant has already moved to a renovated building in the company´s premises. With currently around 130 employees, RSH Polymere develops and produces high-quality plastic regranulates and recompounds, primarily from industrial waste - primarily for customers in the automotive, construction, consumer goods and packaging industries.
